Pipe bursting: often called trenchless technology may be the best solution.
Two holes are dug; one to expose your horizontal Sewer pipe near the front of your house, and another near the curb (or lowest point) of your sewer main. We run a steel cable through the old pipe, fuse together 20′ sections of HDPE pipe into the desired length. At this time, a large cone-shaped hardened steel breaker head is inserted through the pipe and is pulled by hydraulic rams ( 30 ton pulling capacity) splitting the old pipe and creating a channel large enough for the new HDPE sewer pipe. We connect it at each end, add cleanouts, backfill the holes, replace the sod and patch the asphalt or concrete. And, not forgetting clean-up.
Not only does this save the invasive digging but also saves the cost of repairing or replacing a driveway and landscaping. If any other plumbing company tells you that you have to dig up your yard it’s because they don’t want you to know this technology exists, or don’t have the equipment and expertise for trenchless technology. That’s not to say that this is the wrong way to replace a Sewer line. It should certainly be looked at as one of the solutions. Our experienced crews will excavate, install, and clean up the work area so that it looks like we were never there.
Drains and sewers may crack due to ground movement, subsidence, tree root infiltration, or corrosion – or they may totally collapse. The result is a structurally defective drain causing repeat blockages or leaks into the surrounding soil.

Depending where you live in Burnaby plays a large role in the kind of roofing you have and the opportunities of new roofing products available to you. Burnaby had different building booms at different times creating patterns around the City of Burnaby
In the North of Burnaby the terrain is very mountainous in some areas allowing houses to be built by individual builders, as a result this is one area where each house differs from the next and makes it a one on one situation for home owners when dealing with roofing product and cost. These homes deal with a average of a slightly higher estimate based on difficulty. remember I am not talking about all the homes in North Burnaby, there are some easy access up North in Burnaby but there is also a lot of steep driveway access.
Central and South Burnaby had much more accessible terrain allowing building companies to make several houses at a time which created patterns. Cedar shake which is spotted throughout the central but mostly the south is becoming a rare roof in Burnaby. Almost all cedar roofs in Burnaby are being converted to asphalt shingle roofing. Mostly due to the cheaper cost but more importantly the stronger warranty.
Shingle roofs were nearly the only roofing product that was installed during the eighties and nineties in Burnaby. At that time shingle roofing was installed over a shiplap deck which is a issue in roofing today. A lot of the cottage style roofs in Burnaby that are getting replaced are having to get plywood laid over the shiplap. This is a unfortunate cost but definitely worth it
Not but not least is the slate roof. Thanks to the Italian presence in the City of Burnaby there are many houses, specifically in the North where many homes have slate roofs. These roofs take many years to need a replacement but it is best to stick with slate once a replacement is needed

A bumper block, also called a parking stop, will stop cars from running into each other in your company’s parking lot and can add some uniformity to the parking of employees and guests. It protects cars from bumping into one another’s bumpers, and gives a guide to cars pulling into the space far enough to not be sticking out into the driveway. One other option is adding a parking stop to your own personal garage. The benefit of not running into your own personal storage items can be valuable too.
Concrete or Recycled Plastic?
You’ve probably seen a parking stop made of concrete and of recycled plastic. If it’s newer, the concrete one is nice and smooth and matches the parking lot gray or has been painted. When the concrete stop is older, it can be crumbling and chipped on the ends and where the installed rebar is located and chipped and faded if it was painted. If it was never painted, spilled drinks and auto chemicals can stain it. Sometimes, the rebar is pushing out from the concrete, posing a hazard not only to pedestrians but also to the bumper of the vehicle pulling into the parking place. This is not the most attractive sight, and can happen after just a short time, especially if it sees abuse from autos and trucks running into it and bad weather conditions such as snow and ice.
A recycled plastic parking stop, however, will remain smooth and unmarred, oblivious to the bumping of cars, ice and rain and other weather factors. This type of stop also needs no repainting, as the color is mixed throughout the plastic and never fades or needs repainting. Oil, gas, salt, sunlight and chemicals will slide right off of the parking stop, keeping it maintenance free. If you are the parking lot owner, your stops can be installed by one person, because they are so lightweight. They can even be shipped UPS, so you can get them quickly.
Parking Stop Options
The four foot to eight foot long recycled plastic parts will work in an asphalt or concrete parking lot. Depending on the traffic you have in your lot, they are also manufactured for trucks, standard size automobiles and compact cars. This means they are available in different heights, from 3 ¼” high for compacts to 7″ tall for trucks. Other options are the color – from standard safety yellow to gray, and even blue for ADA handicapped accessible spots, and the installation equipment. A concrete lot, where drilling holes is permitted, will require lag bolt hardware, while an asphalt surface will need steel spike hardware.
Whether you have a new parking lot that needs attractive stops, or an older space that would be greatly improved with new stops, finding the right parking stop for your lot will improve its appearance and provide safer parking for your guests.
